Well this is a beautiful and artistic hotel and the staff was lovely. It is also located only 13 minutes from the Anne Frank House on a quiet canal. The cafe serves a very good breakfast buffet. The issue is the open concept bathroom. You step out of the shower or toilet into the bedroom. The mirror is not in front of the sink and water splashes sll over the floor. The drape provided does not block the view from the windows. It is really a shame that the designer and his partner did not have to stay here a week before finalizing the design. We just can't recommend a stay here because of the bathroom. Everythis else is very good.

We absolutely loved staying here. The hotel is exquisitely designed with details that are pretty but also clever and extend to every little item and corner—loved that, as it didn’t feel like a normal hotel, but rather an experience. So beautiful! It’s a great location to walk around the canals, to the tram stop and to museums. Overall, we were so very happy with our choice to stay here for our week in Amsterdam!

Complete waste of money – don’t fall for “the view”

Booked a “canal view” room. The photos online show a large yellow chair by a double window looking out on the canal. In reality, there is a half wall directly in front of the chair! You can stand it look over it, but sitting in the chair you are looking at a wall. The front desk staff was quick to apologize and went to the back to consult the manager who advised nothing could be done as the hotel was sold out. Upon asking for a price adjustment, they again went to the back for a consult and returned saying the cost would be adjusted to a regular view room. While this is appreciated and the correct course of action, it is disappointing the remedy had to be requested. The bathroom situation is bizarre. The WC and shower each open directly in the room. The sink is in the middle of the room. The mirror is fixed about a foot from the sink it making shaving challenging for the men. And none of it can be operated in the light without turning on lights directly in the room! Fine if you’re traveling alone, but if you’re a couple you are both awakening as soon as one needs the loo/brushes their teeth/takes a shower. It’s quite odd, like sleeping/living in your bathroom. I suspect what drives this design is trying to make the room seem bigger by combining it with the bathroom as the room is TINY. The lobby is fine, but most tables are reserved for customers who are eating/drinking. There are very few tables and chairs available for hotel guests who are gathering. Not ideal when there is only one sitting chair in the hotel room. We had two adults in one room with nowhere to sit together much less when gathering with our adult child who was staying in another room. Room is serviced only once daily and coffee/water/towel replenishment inconsistent (though you can call front desk for more). The complimentary mini bar with drinks and snacks consists of one small bag of popcorn, one apple juice, some waters, a soda, and two Heineken. Towels and robes are thin and scratchy (a moth flew out of one!). Table by the one sitting chair wobbled on the top. And for the finale, when requesting a alate checkout by one hour we were told that was available – for 60 euros an hour! Sadly, nothing about the five-night stay warranted the hefty price.
